We are a friendly Community choir with around 60 members based at Hanley Castle High School, near Upton-upon-Severn, Worcestershire.
If you enjoy singing but are worried about reading music or the ordeal of an audition then we are the choir for you! Everyone is welcome to join us without audition. We just want you to share our enjoyment of singing.
We would welcome basses at the moment to maintain the balance between parts.
Calendar
We follow an annual programme that tackles a large work, perhaps a Requiem Mass, around Easter time followed by a light-hearted ‘Summer Soirée’ in July that offers a variety of songs from both choir and individuals accompanied by a lip-smacking summer supper.
There is usually a second formal concert in the autumn preceding a combined Christmas Carol Service with Hanley Castle High School in St. Mary’s Church, Hanley Castle in December each year.
Previous major works have included: Orff - Carmina Burana ; Duruflé - Requiem; Vivaldi - Gloria;
Stainer - Crucifixion; Britten - St. Nicholas; Fauré - Requiem; Bernstein Chichester Psalms;
Mozart - Requiem; Rutter - Requiem; L'Estrange - Zimbe, Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose, Wassail!
Carols of Comfort and Joy & Zadok Rules; Haydn - Little Organ Mass and Will Todd - Mass in Blue.
Hanley Voices love the lighter side too and modern classics form an important feature of their summer activities.
Rehearsals take place on
